This was painted at about the same time as the view of Falkland Palace which dates from a fine summer's evening in 1957. Style and colour vibrancy are similar.
Falkland is a timeless place and there is little change to be noticed since the date of these paintings. However, the artist did regret that not enough effort was made in the 1960s to preserve some of the weavers' cottages which were a significant feature of this small town.
