The shop building on the corner of Lothian Street and High Street (Page - confectioners) - the centre feature of this painting done in a mix of wax and watercolour - has long been demolished. However, the building to the left with stepped gable ends is still a working pub (The Star Tavern) and dates back to 1671. It is one of the oldest buildings in the town
