By the 1960s Tom Gourdie was firmly committed to writing books on, and lecturing on, calligraphy and the teaching of good handwriting. The artist role became secondary. In 1968 he held an exhibition at "the Technical College" (formerly - until 1958 - the old High School and now Adam Smith College). This is a reproduction of the exhibition poster
