All reproduction artwork is produced on Canon 350 gsm Fine Art paper produced by Hahnemuhle. This paper is one of the highest quality papers available for fine art/digital printing purposes. It is acid-free with a very long-life expectancy. Hahnemuhle has been in the business of producing high quality paper for over 400 years.
The inks used are Canon Lucia pigments which, again, are estimated to have a useful life of several decades (some claims suggest a useful life of 100+ years).
To minimise the damaging effects
of light, artwork - watercolours, prints, photographs, reproductions etc - should always be framed and glazed and should be displayed away from direct sunlight.
These reproductions are presented in acid-free double mounts with a rigid backing board and are mostly available in three sizes:-
LARGE* prints are intended for a frame size of 20 inches by 16 inches (51 cms by 40.5 cms) and the visible picture size is 15.75 inches by 11.75 inches (40 cms by 30 cms)
MEDIUM prints are intended for a frame size of 14 inches by 11 inches (35.5 cms by 28 cms) and the visible picture size is 11 inches by 8 inches (28 cms by 20 cms)
SMALL prints are intended for a frame size of 10 inches by 8 inches (25.5 cms by 20.5 cms) and the visible picture size is 7.25 inches by 5.25 inches (18.5 cms by 13.5 cms)
* Not all prints are available in LARGE and some are not available in SMALL
Mounts are double mounts with an ivory/cream outer mount and a matching ivory/cream inner mount (see illustration of mount). Some prints for technical reasons, or because of the size of the original artwork, are only available in the Medium or Small format and some - pen and ink drawings and Calligraphy - are not available in the Small size. Such variations are clearly marked on the print description. If you simply want an unmounted print please Contact me for an individual quote.
Frames are not supplied primarily because of the risk of breakage in transit and difficulty in obtaining postal insurance for glazed products. However, a plus side of this policy is that you, the buyer, can obtain a frame of your exact choice without being restricted by what would be a limited range of products. However, if it is essential that you have a framed product then please contact me, using the Contact page to discuss how I might help and to obtain an individual quote. Alternatively, drop me a note at Tom Gourdie’s Gallery, 206 Ridgemoor Road, The Mallards, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 8UN.
